Anastasya Meskova - Bolshoi Ballet

Anastasya Meskova started dancing from early childhood and at age four became a laureate of the art festival MStU-90. At age six she won first prize in the television competition "Utrennya zvezda" presenting her improvisations on several classical choreographic themes (Lebed, Carmen, Ave-Maria, Don Quijote, Edithe Piaf).

In 1993 Ms. Meskova became a grant holder of the International charity programme "New Names". She presented it at many concerts, including the International Music Festival in Visbaden (Germany). In 1993 she entered the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (MStAC), and in December of that year, she appeared for the first time onstage at the Bolshoi theatre with a variation of "Kukolka" from the ballet Kopelia.

In December 1994 Ms. Meskova starred in the role of young Masha in the musical choreographic play based on a fairytale Nutcracker performed by students of the MStAC jointly with the Russian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by M. Pletnev. In January 1995 her name was included in the "Golden book: XX century to XXI century".

In January 1996 she performed the part of Adrasteya in the ballet Zeus of D. Arapis staged by the Kremlin ballet troupe under the leadership of A. Petrov. This ballet was also presented in Greece and Cypre. In April 1996 Ms. Meskova took part in the gala-concert at the Benoit de la Dance award ceremony held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

She participated in the foreign tours of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography presenting guest performances in Japan, Germany, Israel, Norway and Switzerland. In 1999 the M.E. Liepa Charity Fund for Assistance to Choreographic Art Development awarded Ms. Meskova a Diploma-scholarship. In May 2000 she danced with A. Batalov, star actor of the Mariinsky theatre, at the memorial gala-concert in honor of M. Liepa. In July 2000 she took part in the gala-concert "Stars of the Russian Ballet" at the art festival "Slavyansky Bazaar" celebrated in Vitebsk.

She has won many awards, including Grand Prix in the international television competition held in Italy "Bravo-Bravissimo" ("Lebed"), laureate (gold medal) of the III U. Grigirovich International Classical Dance Competition "Fuete of Artek", finalist of International Classical Dance Competition in Paris, and Grand Prix of the IV-ORT International Ballet Competition in Vienna. Ms. Meskova joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 2002.
