Geon van der Wyst - National Ballet of CanadaGeon van der Wyst was born in Melbourne, Australia and received his dance training in Newcastle before entering the Australian Ballet School. In 1991 he joined the Australian Ballet and he was promoted to soloist in 1995 and to Senior Artist in 1996. Mr. Van der Wyst joined The National Ballet of Canada as a Principal Dancer on January 9, 2001. His leading roles include Prince Florimund in The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Prince in Cinderella, the title role in Onegin, Des Grieux in Manon, the title role in Apollo, the Detective in The Competition, Lieutenant Pinkerton in Madam Butterfly, Count Vronsky in Anna Karenina, Count Danilo in The Merry Widow, Espada in Don Quixote, Red Boy in Songs of a Wayfarer, principal in Theme and Variations, Lucentio in Taming of the Shrew, Principal in Etudes, the Second pas de deux in In the Night, and roles in Divergence, Jardi Tancat, Gemini ,Three of us, Fall River Legend, Por vos Muero, Rites and Equus.
