With a Degree in Dance
and a professional background in Arts Administration, Ms. Hatcher
has served in the role Executive Director (sole staff person) for
ballet tech cincinnati since 2004. Prior to moving back home to Cincinnati,
Ms. Hatcher was the Executive Director of the Avery Arts Council located
in the Western Mountains of North Carolina. Ms. Hatcher came to btc
with an understanding of the position as Executive Director and the
unique qualifications needed to function as an organization’s sole
staff person. During her time at the Avery Arts Council, Ms. Hatcher
doubled fundraising event income within two years; increased state
grant monies for arts programming within the county; and initiated
new and innovative programs which increased the Council’s visibility
within the County, and allowed her to bring
many artists, including the esteemed Chuck Davis and the African American
Dance Ensemble into the mountains to work with area students. In
the short time she has been at btc, Ms. Hatcher has been instrumental
in the organization’s increased fundraising success, and has been
working with the Board of Directors to increase the organization’s
effectiveness, and visibility.
A
Cincinnati-native, Jana received her early training in Ballet and
Modern Dance at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory
of Music, and learned Tap & Jazz from Diane Campbell and TIna
Decker at Technical Dance Center, a small studio in Western Cincinnati.
She graduated as Valedictorian from Lees-McRae College in North Carolina
with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with focuses on Creative Arts Education
(K-12) and Arts Administration. Jana danced for X Factor, Inc, a modern
dance company based in Boone, NC, as well as in several musicals for
regional and summerstock theatres, including Brigadoon, Crazy
For You, My Fair Lady, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
In addition to her role as Executive Director, you will find Ms. Hatcher
teaching dance classes, sewing costumes, working on set designs, doing
the graphic design for posters and web pages and more for btc.
