Winning ways at ballet tech cincinnati!
On October 21, ballet tech cincinnati was recognized as a Finalist for the ONE Awards. The ONE (Organizations of Noteworthy Excellence) Awards identify and recognize best practices in our region's nonprofit organizations. btc the first and only arts organization to receive this recognition of its operational excellence and continuous quality improvement.

The eighth season opened at the Aronoff Center on Friday and Saturday, October 3-4th with East Vs. West Side Story. If you’ve seen West Side Story, you’ve never seen it like this! The audience experienced the premiere production about the Jets and Sharks in Cincinnati - the West Side Jets dance hip hop/video pop and the East Side Sharks dance ballet and jazz. Original choreography by J. Karin Bond-Williams, Amy Harpring and Kasib Hasan blended classical ballet and jazz with hip hop and a unique spin on the soundtrack to bring the classic story to life with lots of Cincinnati flavor! Featuring a diverse, highly talented cast of professional, pre-professional, youth and community dancers, East Vs. West Side Story brought the entire community together to celebrate the best of the East and the West!

ballet tech cincinnati’s entertaining, “feel good” productions have won over so many audience members: Susan Knobler of Montgomery said, “I loved it! … I smiled so much my face hurt. The kids were terrific, choreography innovative and so well suited to the kids’ abilities. MARVELOUS! “ The production was an excellent display of ballet tech cincinnati’s signature of innovation and excellence while promoting diversity in the audience, cast and programming. Evanston resident Hank Stephens added, “I was mesmerized by the rainbow of dancers. I thought the choreography and choice of music was intriguing. Thanks for using the medium for dance to express the diversity that exists in Cincinnati”. Michael Beck of Downtown said, “Great show!!! It was truly impressive!!!! The kids did a wonderful job!!!”

ballet tech cincinnati hosted a community performance of the show in its own Community on Saturday, October 11th as part of the District A grand opening event in the 20/20 Festival. District A is an arts collaborative, a clearinghouse, a catalyst to strengthen community and spur economic development along the historic Montgomery Road corridor. The performance punctuated a full day of activities, including open dance classes; A Sneak Preview to Breaking Barriers: a Modern Dance Concert Produced and directed by Flora Leptak-Moreau, ballet tech cincinnati Student Performance; Frisch Marionettes; Jazz Concert by Hank Stephens Experience and “Non-Vertical Girl” Play by Renee Alpert.
