Please Support Arriana Bedgood's Cochlear Implant Benefit
Arriana is a talented, hearing impaired, 15 year old Dance Major with the goal of getting a Cochlear Implant this summer. Her family has just learned that the little hearing she does have, is deteriorating quickly – Ari will become deaf. A Cochlear Implant would give her a second chance... Our hope is to raise funds to help cover her family's out of pocket expenses. Any donation, no matter what the size, makes a difference. Thank you for your support! http://www.arrianabedgood.blogspot.com

Advocate for Arts Funding

We need your help in contacting the Governor as well as our state senators and representatives regarding the Ohio Arts Council.  When we began this past biennium, the seven largest arts organizations (Ballet, Opera, CSO, CAM, CAC, Taft, and Playhouse) collectively were awarded almost $1.2 million for 2007-08 when the OAC’s total budget was $25 million.  The Governor proposed a 2009-11 biennial budget of $18.8 million.  In the House’s version of the budget, our representatives raised it to $22.1 million.  The Senators just passed their version of the budget and have slashed it to $14.1 million.  If the Senate’s version prevails, the seven major Cincinnati arts organizations would be reduced to approximately $626,000, or a loss of more than $500,000, not to mention smaller arts organizations like ballet tech cincinnati and others.

Please contact the Governor, your Senator and your Representative and urge them to restore the $25 million budget we started with last biennium.  To make it easier, you can use the Ohio Citizens for the Arts’ e-advocacy tool at their website to send your message: http://www.ohiocitizensforthearts.org/
